Vicki's Story

Vicki Linneman
On Tuesday September 17, 2013 Vicki was admitted to Hudson Hospital due to dehydration and abnormal kidney tests.  On Wednesday the 18th they did a CT scan and lesions were found on both sides of her neck and spine which was diagnosed as bone cancer.  They then decided to do x-rays on both of her legs and arms and found more cancer. After all of the tests she was diagnosed with stage 3 Multiple Myeloma cancer. She was then transferred to Mayo Hospital in Rochester, MN where the teams of doctors put together her chemotherapy regiment. She has undergone bone marrow and kidney biopsies, 2 plasmatic exchanges, had 3 liters of fluid removed from her lungs, was treated for pneumonia, has received 2 blood transfusions, and is now going through her 3 cycles of chemotherapy.  While being diagnosed with cancer, Vicki had spent over a month in hospitals. In the future if Vicki is put into remission she will need either a bone marrow transplant or a stem cell transplant to keep her in remission.
